Quantum X shape is Nanoscribe’s new high-precision 3D printer featuring design freedom for virtually any 2.5D or 3D shaped structure and offering high-quality with maximum throughput.

Quantum X shape is Nanoscribe’s brand-new high-precision 3D printer for rapid prototyping and wafer-scale batch production to exploit the full potential of 3D Microfabrication in research and industrial processes. Based on Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP), the direct laser writing system with proprietary printing technologies provides design freedom in the microfabrication of 2.5D and 3D objects with submicrometer precision. With Quantum X shape, high-precision 3D printing becomes significantly more efficient in terms of printing on wafers up to 6 inches in size. This gain in efficiency is particularly important for wafer-scale batch production and hence for research labs and industrial manufacturing processes. Overall, this expands the 3D Microfabrication opportunities in multiple research fields and industries such as in life sciences, material engineering, microfluidics, microoptics, micromechanics and for microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).

The new Quantum X shape is the second microfabrication system in Nanoscribe’s industry-proven Quantum X product line next to the maskless lithography system Quantum X. With Quantum X shape, Nanoscribe is launching a 3D printer for printing any object on areas up to 25 cm² to push forward rapid prototyping of sophisticated and complex applications in life sciences, microfluidics and material engineering. As an upright system with an automatic photoresin dispensing function, the printer is the optimal device for industrial batch processes with standard wafers up to 6 inches such as microstructures in the fields of life sciences, MEMS and material engineering.

Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP) is an additive manufacturing approach providing highest precision and complete design freedom. Quantum X shape is the best-in-class system for 3D Microfabrication of objects with:

  • Feature size control down to 100 nanometers in all spatial directions for nano- and microscale printing
  • Mesoscale printing up to 50 millimeters object size

Balancing precision and speed to increase output

Quantum X shape offers high-speed 3D Microfabrication with shape accuracy and precision that is second to none. This unmatched output is the result of a state-of-the art galvo system and smart electronics system control units on a sturdy granite-based platform combined with an industry-grade pulsed femtosecond laser. Quantum X shape features an advanced laser focus trajectory control that accelerates and decelerates the galvo mirror units to the optimum scan speed and dynamically adjusts the laser power at 1 MHz modulation rates.
Quantum X shape comes with an unique automatic interface finder, that can detect substrate surfaces with a precision down to 30 nanometers. This unmatched nanoscale accuracy at highest scan speed, coupled with self-calibration routines, results in reliable and accurate prints within shortest time that set new standards in 3D Microfabrication. This makes Quantum X shape the ideal tool for rapid prototyping and wafer-scale production in microoptics, microfluidics, surface engineering, MEMS and various other application fields.

Simple and convenient workflow for best possible usability

An automatic dispensing function for photoresins is beneficial in industrial processes such as in wafer-scale processing and small series production. Quantum X shape users also take advantage of controlling print jobs either via the device’s integrated touchscreen or by remotely accessing the printer from anywhere. The remote access software nanoConnectX brings all the functions and display options of the touchscreen to the systems users’ computers so that they can start, monitor and control print jobs of connected printers from anywhere. This makes it possible for entire user groups, e.g. members of a research group or a department, to work with a single system, each of them accessing the device from their own computer. This reduces preparation time in the lab to a minimum, makes it more convenient to prepare, execute and monitor print jobs and significantly simplifies group collaboration when sharing a system.
